The following are ways to help you in controlling of cockroaches in your homestead.
Insecticide. They exist in different forms. They are mostly in the form of sprays and baits. One uses the spray on entry points of the house to prevent others from getting in and those getting out to be affected by the spray. Use the spray also to spray small openings and cracks inside the house as they preferably hide in these small holes. Baits are mostly found as sticky glues. One can place these in the common habitat areas of cockroaches like dark corners and specific paths to trap them down. There are some that come in powder form once a cockroach walks over the powder they drop down. Get an insecticide the next time, and you will be in control.
Proper sanitation. This refers to the general cleanliness of the house. Make sure the house is well maintained all the times. Dishes should be washed and keep the sink clear. Clear the garbage bin every morning if possible.
Cockroaches need food to eat. When you provide them with the basic food environment they won’t stop coming back. A dirty environment can provide a good source of food to them. Smaller insects can also be food to them. Thus, you should clear anything that might attract them.
Get rid of sheltering areas. They mostly prefer dark areas in the house. Cracks and holes are a good hiding place for cockroaches. Most dark cracks and holes may inhibit many cockroaches. You can cover up holes and cracks to get rid of their shelter at the same time control them. Try to lighten up the house and make sure dark corners receive bright light. So that sneaking roaches are kept away from the housing cover and seal all possible entry points of the ceiling.
Inspect the house. Night time is the best to carry out an inspection. Noticing one breed would mean a possible infestation. Look out for any egg cases or weird smell. Get rid of droppings to avoid health complications especially for people with asthma.
Make sure that you keep your house well cleaned and organized so that you can prevent the cockroaches from hiding in these dark places.
